The Claims of Beauty
A A reading group for graduate students and faculty.This graduate seminar will take up fundamental questions and themes in philosophy of beauty and aesthetics. Roger Scruton's Beauty will be the ordering text for the discussion, with additional selections from John Ruskin, Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, Jacques Maritain, Joseph Pieper, and others. At least one sessions will take place during a viewing at the Yale Center for British Art.
