Margarita Mooney '95 is an Associate Professor in the Department of Practical Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary, where she teaches classes such as philosophy of social science, religion and social theory, and intentional communities. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Yale University and her Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University. Before returning to Princeton, she was on the faculty of the Sociology Departments at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Yale. Her current research focuses on suffering and resilience, combining various sociological methods with insights from philosophy and theology to understanding the impact of traumatic events on one’s sense of self, relationships with others, and experiences of the sacred.
