Work & Leisure: Private Government

In “Private Government” Elizabeth Anderson examines the extensive powers that many employers exercise over their employees, on duty and off, and asks why concerns about the power of government to limit individual freedom often seem unconcerned for the threat to freedom that employees face when they can be fired for their political speech, recreational activities, diet, and almost anything else employers care to govern.

Open to current Yale students and alumni of the Elm Institute’s “Work, Leisure, and the Good Life” summer seminar. To sign-up for the discussion contact Peter Wicks.

Part of a series of discussions on the philosophy of work and leisure. For more information about the series click here.
