Reimagining Politics After AGI:
A Conversation with Joan O’Bryan
12.00–1.30pm | Friday, October 10
Elm Library, 31 Whitney Avenue
Are we about to be replaced? Some experts predict the rise of Artificial General Intelligence, and machines which could outperform humans at nearly every task, as soon as the end of this decade. What implications does this have for human politics? Would the rise of artificial agents with greater than human intelligence spell the end of ruling and being ruled in turn? Or could it open up new opportunities for us to coordinate with one another, to distribute the benefits and burdens of cooperation, or to turn our souls toward the good?
Joan O’Bryan is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
This event is open to all members of the Yale community. Lunch will be served.

If a machine can think, it might think more intelligently than we do, and then where should we be?
