Informed both by contemporary Aristotelian thought and the latest developments in ecological thinking and evolutionary biology, Oswald Schmitz and Timothy Kearns develop an account of what it is for living things to flourish that can serve as the basis both for an account of the goods of human life and the ethics of our relations to the rest of the natural world.

Oswald Schmitz is the Oastler Professor of Population and Community Ecology at the Yale School of Forestry. Timothy Kearns teaches philosophy at the University of Connecticut.
