In “Waiting for the Weekend” Witold Rybczynski surveys the history of leisure and the process by which work and leisure are assigned to particular times, the working weekdays and the weekend. He asks why so many people simultaneously look forward to the weekend while struggling to decide how to spend their leisure time.
