The Legacy of Alasdair MacIntyre

Wednesdays | 4.00-6.00pm | Elm Library

A series of three seminar discussions exploring the career and legacy of the philosopher Alasdair MacIntyre, who died last year after a long and remarkable career. We will explore the reception of his work across a range of disciplines (philosophy, political theory, religious studies and theology) and consider what his most lasting impact on and beyond each of these fields.

A three-part seminar open to all members of the Yale community. To sign up or for more information please contact Peter Wicks.

Schedule (Tentative)
2/11 | MacIntyre on Philosophy
2/25 | MacIntyre on Politics (with Steven Smith)
4/1 | MacIntyre on Theology and Religious Studies (with Jennifer Herdt)

There ought not to be two histories, one of political and moral action and one of political and moral theorizing, because there were not two pasts, one populated only by actions, the other only by theories.
